Contextualized Scholarly Impact Index (CSII)

The CSII is a contextually and temporally sensitive h-index: The h number of articles published in any of the first quartile management-related SCImago publications with h number of citations from any source within a given time frame. It considers impact within the context of the management field, relies on quantity and quality dimensions of research impact, incorporates temporal aspects of impact, and yields scholarly impact scores using the latest data from an inclusive set of influential management journals. It provides a transparent and multi-dimensional measure of scholarly impact to inform practices and policy-making, facilitate benchmarking of research impact, and support researchers in understanding and enhancing their scholarly contributions. While CSII offers significant improvements in measuring scholarly impact, all measures (including measures of scholarly impact) can be gamed. Thus, it is essential not to rely solely on a single metric, no matter how valid it is.

HOW TO USE CSII: Please see our Academy of Management Perspectives article for details. You can choose to assess the scholarly impact of individuals and institutions. For individuals, you can locate authors by name or Scopus ID number, with the option to specify a date range. To search for a name (e.g., John Doe), you can type it into the “Author search” box. For asessing the scholarly impact of institutions (i.e., business schools), click on "Institution search." Please note that searching for business school names instead of the institution name can sometimes be more accurate depending on the nature of the search (e.g., Iowa State University vs. Ivy College of Business). The institutional search can also be limited to specific dates for comparisons within the same period (i.e., the last decade only). Please be patient and note that the search process may take a few seconds.
